John S. Sakellariou received the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 1999 and the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2005 from the University of Patras, Greece. He currently is a faculty member of the Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering department at the University of Patras, Greece and a member of the Stochastic Mechanical Systems and Automation Laboratory. He is teaching courses on systems theory, stochastic systems, control and structural health monitoring. He has also served on the faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Thessaly, Thessaly, Greece (2007) and on the faculty of the Department of Financial and Management Engineering of the University of the Aegean, Chios, Greece (2006-2007). Dr. Sakellariou was a collaborator of the Industrial Systems Institute (I.S.I.) in Greece (2006-2008) and worked also as a Mechanical Engineer in the Research & Development department of N. Maniatopoulos S.A. (Ideal Bikes) bicycle manufacturing company (2008 – 2011).
Dr. Sakellariou research areas cover estimation, dynamic identification, prediction, simulation, vibration control, diagnosis and Structural Health Monitoring of linear, nonlinear and multiple equilibria stochastic systems and structures with emphasis on mechanical and aeronautical applications. He has also strong interest and long experience in the design of laboratory experiments as well as in experimental procedures in field with various types of engineering systems and structures.
Dr. Sakellariou research has been published through various research articles in major international journals and conferences, chapters for international technical encyclopedias and technical reports. He is also a referee for many international journals and conferences such as the Mechanical Systems & Signal Processing, the International Journal of Control, the Journal of Sound and Vibration, the Journal of Structural Health Monitoring, the International Conference on Noise and Vibration Engineering, the European Workshop on Structural Health Monitoring and others.
